Erin Reagan Voight
Erin wasn't exactly the best when it came to starting a conversation, but her husband's message had been clearly written in his face. 'We need to talk' were hardly words she wanted him to use at this point but she had a feeling they were headed that way and fast. She had been silent unless her voice as needed. While she had gotten coffee earlier, neither of them had eaten. Trying to get Hank to leave the hospital? Impossible. The most she had somehow managed to do was get Hank to the cafeteria to eat something.
Erin figured that was only because Sharon was the only one allowed to be with Thomas right now. Erin sat down with a salad and stuck her fork in the top of the lettuce bed. "I'd do it again." She pointed out. Still four words but better than one of them deciding to use the dreaded four world shattering ones. Her dad was a cop, he'd taught her to shoot and he'd taught her to defend herself and others. Yeah she was a lawyer but she was also one who grew up with cops.
That wasn't to say she hadn't been in her fair share of trouble. Twice she'd been taken hostage and had someone shot who had a weapon using her as a human shield. She'd been shot in her office and all she had done was protected her family. What Hank didn't understand was that Erin had never had to pull the trigger herself before but how was it hardly different than having blood splatter all over your face because someone had your life in danger? Picking her fork up she shoved lettuce into her mouth. Erin didn't want the silence to be awkward, so food was one way to cover it. If she was eating... the silence explained itself.

Hank didnt want to say those words, we need to talk had so many implications to it that it was impossible not to wonder what was going on. Though Erin, he needed to talk to her or they needed to talk to each other before things went any further. The silence was tough and the coffee was great though what they both needed was food, something to eat and talk over or at least an excuse to talk that didnt involved the FBI and the rest of the family. Hank knew he wasn’t going to the leave the hospital but the compromise had been the cafeteria.
He was still there just in case something happened and closed enough to be there for Sharon and Erin. Hank was about to take a bite of his salad when he heard her say another four words that made him feel guiltier than any ‘we need to talk’ could ever do. “That’s the whole point, you shouldn’t have had to do it in the first place.” He stated stabbing the lettuce leaf with force, he was angry with himself over the entire thing. Lou had to take a shot because he had frozen, the Voight that did ten crazy things a day hadn’t taken that shot because he was too distracted by something else.
Hank watched her eat for a moment before he put his fork down, “Lou I’m sorry and thank you for doing what you did.” He said as he took a breath, “You did the right thing, even if it doesn’t seem like it.” Hank had spoken to many cops after they had made their first shots, he knew what they said and how they acted but none had hit so close to home than Lou. “I want you to know that you didnt have a choice, you did what you needed to do to survive.” He said wanting to coach her into a conversation but then she came from a family of cops.
She knew what happened and what the drill was for it all. Hank wanted her to talk because she had been so quiet and eating, well that was just a convenience to cover the silence. He wanted to be sure she was alright though no one was ever alright after killing someone. It just didnt happen as he tried to read her face or figure out what was going on in her head.

Yeah they were poking each other with this. He was feeling guilty and she was struggling with pulling the trigger. "Even if you had? I still would have." The sharp reminder came out angrier than she intended. She gulped down her words and set her fork down. "What I'm trying to say is what good would two people shooting at them accomplish. I just... reacted." It wouldn't have mattered if Hank was armed or not. It was an instinct, one that wasn't as well honed as his; but an instinct never the less. Erin didn't want a fight.
"There's a reason I never wanted to be a cop" she sighed. And it had happened anyway. She'd had to end a life. Not that some people didn't deserve to rot in hell for things they did. There was a legal system for a reason. It was hardly a fair trial if they couldn't answer for their crimes. Though she wasn't exactly feeling sorry for the suspects. She took a sip of her water poking at some of her lettuce with her fork eating small bites in between conversation. She didn't want to have the whole 'you were the hungry one' conversation. After all she had suggested the cafe.
Erin was lost in her head, she was so lost and not asking for help. Lou was so sure she could sort through it all herself. Hank had other things to worry about, he didn't need to worry about her putting herself back together. Though tears fell. Angry tears, angry at herself for not being able to do more. Angry because he was mad at himself. He shouldn't be the guilty one. Hell she was the one who had taken a life, it was hardly right for him to feel like the guilty one.
To be truthful, Erin wasn't okay. She picked her fork back up and made an attempt at eating. Swallowing a bite she decided to come clean. Her anger was evident. "I'm not okay; but watching you blame yourself doesn't make this any easier" she admitted before stuffing a tomato into her mouth. Chewing and swallowing again before talking. "I'm not angry at you. I'm not even angry at myself. I'm angry at those who did this." She prosecuted cases like this all the time, but it as different being caught up in it. "I'm still trying to sort emotions and everyone wants me to talk.. I can't ... I can't put it all in place yet" she admitted. "I'm not ready" she confirmed before breaking a cucumber mercilessly in half with the side of her fork.

Hank glanced at her angry reminder, the whole point was that she didnt have to do that. He should have done it, he’d done it before and it wasn’t his first shooting either. He was about to argue his point when she spoke again. “Yes you did and I’m glad you did.” He said not wanting to make her feel any worse about it, she’d done exactly what he would have though she had a point. What would the difference be between two of them doing it? He could have swung it that Erin didnt kill the person or if she did that she wouldnt know about it.
At least if he could have done that she might have felt better or not have had to go through any of it. “It doesn’t happen to every cop but you did what you had to. Nothing wrong with that.” He said trying to be supportive, Hank wasn’t used to being the one on the other end of things. She wasn’t a cop so his usual speech didnt work, taking her to gun range well he wasn’t in the position to leave the hospital and she wasn’t used to be threatened with a gun on a regular basis. Hank didnt know what to say to her to make it any better because there wasn’t anything that could do.
Hank could see with the tears and the attempt at eating she was far from okay though her anger was clear. “I’m sorry Lou.” He said as he knew it was time to put his game face on, the sort of thing that said everything was alright even if it wasn’t. He was all too familiar with it but for Erin he would do anything to see that she was okay. As he listened to her Hank nodded as he picked up his chair and moved it next to hers as he shoved his lunch that way too as he felt suddenly sorry for the cucumber that didnt stand a chance against her fork.
Hank moved a hand to her face as he tried to brush her tears away. Angry was the first step, to be angry with everything or everyone for what had happened and then things went from there. “I’m not asking you to talk or telling you to.” Hank said, “I just want you to know what when you’re ready I’m here. There’s no right or wrong in what to feel but I’ve been where you are, lots of people have. Just know that i’m here if you want to talk.” He wasn’t sure if she would even want to talk to him but then there were lots of people she could talk to he just hoped that when she was ready it would be him.

Erin knew Hank would pull every string he could to keep Erin out of trouble, or from thinking she hadn't killed the guy. Even then it wouldn't have helped. Either way she was going to pull the trigger and even if Hank had pulled the trigger, she'd still be in the same state of mind. Angry that it had happened in their home. Angry that she'd pulled the trigger, angry at a lot of things.
Somewhere between the cucumber being mutilated and Hank moving beside her she got lost in her head. That was until she felt his hand on her face. Reaching her left hand up to place it over his she gripped as much of his larger hand as she could fit in her few fingers that she'd lifted her own hand with. "And we can talk about this together.. when I process things" she assured him. Right now it was just a matter of sorting how she felt to be able to talk about it. "I just... I can't put into words something I don't understand. It won't do any good to talk when I can't process" she explained herself. Explained that it wasn't because she just didn't want to talk or that she was pushing him out. No, that wasn't the case. She needed time and she'd always been good about asking for what she needed.
Erin dropped her fork and turned towards Hank and buried herself in his shoulder. She wasn't sorry the guy was dead, what did that say about her? If they lost Thomas there was no way Erin was going to get through this, at least that is where her head was going with this. "I can't sort the fear from the anger from the hurt , from the knowing what I did was the right thing.. from.. It's just a nightmare." She wasn't sure she could even pick up her gun and look at it the same way again. "Then the line between justice is blurred too and..." she was so black and white when it came to the law and a dose of legality was thrown up in the mix.
Knowing that she needed to eat she maneuvered around so that she could reach her plate with her one hand. Taking one of the cherry tomatoes off her plate she plopped it in her mouth. He had enough to worry about without worrying about her appetite. She sat up after a moment and started to actually eat properly. He had Sharon to worry about, he didn't need to be worried about her too. "I don't want to put you through my head either when you have Sharon who needs you too." She wrapped one arm behind him and rubbed his shoulder. "I'm here to lean on too ya know" she reminded him.

His house was supposed to be safe, safe from anything and everything and now all he could see were the issues with it. Did he upgrade his security as he thought having a locked door and the name Voight was more than enough of a deterrent. It had happened still, Erin had shot someone, Thomas was hurt, Sharon was upset and he was trying to fix what he couldnt fix for any one of them and worst than that he knew it.
Hank smiled when she gripped his hand, he moved his hand away from her face as he nodded. “I get it Erin, I really do.” He said knowing how he had felt the first time he had pulled the trigger on someone, and the each and every time after that. It took time to figure out what was going on, figure out the anger and come to the right conclusions about it. “You’ve got all the time in the world for this Lou and I’m going to be there with you through it no matter what.” He said wanting her to know that he wasn’t about to disappear on her.
He wasn’t the guy that just up and left when things were difficult but he would give her time because he knew something like that just didnt happen over night. It took days or weeks to process it all and even then it wasn’t done with. For a cop there was picking that gun up again, looking at it and seeing it as a tool for the job and not that thing that killed someone. It all just took time. Hank held Erin close when she buried herself in his shoulder. “Shhhs Lou, it’s okay to feel that you don’t have to sort it all out right now.” He said trying to help though he wasn’t sure if he even could.
“You know the law Erin, you know justice and never think you don’t. You did what needed to be done, the facts are there it was self defence. What would you tell someone if you were looking at this case as the DA?” He asked her deciding that it might help if she could see it from a works stand point rather than the person who pulled the trigger. Even he would be standing in front of a person telling them they had done the right thing no matter what. If anyone knew the law it was Erin and he didnt doubt for one second that she wouldnt come to the conclusion it was self defence.
Hank watched her eat as he started to eat his own salad again chewing on the piece of cucumber he chose. There was a reason salad was a side dish to a main meal he thought but then he didnt really want much more and he was struggling with a salad if he was honest about it. He smiled as she rubbed his shoulder, he squeezed her hand lightly for a moment glad that she was there with him in all of this. “I know you are, Sharon needs both of us and I’m here for you to lean on two. It doesn’t matter about anything else going on Lou, you’re just as important to me as Sharon besides she’s with Thomas so they’ll probably be plotting a fed wedding. You know the ones, where half the US government is invited and the cops provide the security for it all.” He joked though trying to make her laugh even if it was only a little.

Erin's hand didn't move from Hank's even as he dropped them down from the side of her own face. Erin could see the cogs turning in his head. Lacing her fingers tighter with his, she just put her arms around him. Of all the people that could understand what she had done, she was glad he understood but she didn't want him feeling guilty about it. Her phone rang and she gave Hank an apologetic look like she always did when her phone rang.
The other person spoke first as Erin tried to focus. "This is she" the response seemed a bit bothered. Though it was her work cell that had gone off. "You can't sue the cops for that. You can't just sue them because you disagree with the evidence. That's not criminally negligent anything. Whose legal aide are you again?" She wanted to bang her head on the wall. "Yes, I obtained the search warrant for Detectives Voight and Murphy but even without it the drugs were in plain sight. File motions away; I will have them thrown out by Monday" she hung up the phone but soon sent a text to reassign her case. Erin got rid of cases that could be considered a conflict of interest and assigned them to the ASA's.
When Erin bought her gun and learned it to use it, it had been because her dad had wanted her to protect herself. Erin knew she was going to have to pick her gun back up at some point or never be able to pick it up again. "I'm not doubting the legality of any of this. Hank its not about whether this was self defense or self defense of another. What am I supposed to tell the priest at confession. I shot a man and I'm not sorry?" She knew he would get the point. She'd killed someone and that didn't sit well with her. A person still had lost their life.
Erin listened to him talk about the wedding and shook her head. "I think she has other things on her mind other than a wedding. I had to save the mirror from punching her back. She's more upset than she's saying." Erin didn't blame her but at least the topic of conversation wasn't about the whole shooting someone anymore. "I can try getting through to her with girl talk; but she's beating herself up over this. I've been there before too." Erin looked towards Hank and sighed. "I can't say I would be okay if you took a bullet for me. She's unhurt but she's hurting if that makes any sense." She pointed out. It was just a woman to woman guess. Erin knew Sharon hadn't really talked about things.
Erin ran her hand onto his back. She'd settle her things after Hank and Sharon got things sorted. Right now it was putting things right in her own head and trying to keep Hank in one piece. Wrapping her hand into a small cup on his back she lightly scratched with her nails. "I love you" she whispered. Really it wasn't said enough between them, but it was the truth. He had a good heart, even if she was rough on the edges.

He felt like he was trying to find the right thing to say in a situation where the wasn’t any right thing to be said at all. She had just killed a person and there was no taking that away, all he could do was hope she could deal with it before it became something worse. He glared at the phone when he heard it ring, surely they knew already what had happened. Cops and lawyers talked, in fact if they didnt know they weren’t in the right circle to begin with. He knew how rumours spread and it would take a chatty desk sergeant and an hour before the entire city knew.
Hank was trying to follow what was being said but then something about disagreeing with evidence, well that was lawyers. They disagreed with everything and legal aide well that explained more than enough as he rolled his eyes debating if he shot her phone how much of a scene that would make. Voight and Murphy, well that was Sharon though Hank trusted Erin to make sure the case was thrown out. She was the one lawyer that he did trust in all of Chicago. Hank held his hand out as he motioned to her phone, they were the one thing about technology he thought was good and bad.
You were never truly away from it though he would make sure that Erin had the time she needed to process everything. If it was the only thing he could do right that day he would do it. Confession, that was something else he hadn’t really done before or at least truthfully. In his life if he started then he wasn’t about to leave church for at least another forty years. He looked at her and he knew what she meant but he shook his head. “You are sorry Erin because I know you, it just doesn’t feel that way yet. You’re still in shock but once that wares off you know what to say in confession.” He said trying not to make out it would hit her hard but he knew it did for most people. The people who felt nothing after weeks were the ones to worry about.
Listening to Erin talk about what she had saved Sharon from doing it was a long shot to think that she would be alright. Hank nodded to Erin, “He protected her, she’s safe and so are you. I’m not glad that he’s hurt but at least I know he’d do that for her just as I would for you.” He said knowing that at any point he would do the same without a second thought. “It makes sense I just wish there was more I could do for you both.” He said with a sigh, if he tried to say anything then it was likely to be wrong but then he was trying to do the right thing by everyone.
Feeling her hand on his back he smiled. He was trying to make everything better but there wasn’t any doing that, he was annoyed, worried and trying to be there for everyone who needed him. “I love you too Erin, I really do.” He said knowing it wasn’t exactly said much at all. He moved a hand to brush some hair from her face as he did his best acting normal face. “It’ll be okay, I promise.” He said wanting her to feel better about things if that could even be possible.

Erin saw Hank outstretch his hand. Right, he wanted her phone. Erin debated not giving it to him. Erin took it out of her pocket and shut it off right in front of him. Then she tossed it back in her bag. As usual, heaven forbid she do her job. Erin was too tired to do more than roll her eyes at the sentiment. He was just looking out for her. She started poking her salad, finishing enough to be considered eating.
Cue conversation about her being sorry. "It feels right, it feels wrong. Everything in between." She was in the process of it hitting her like a truck as she wrapped her arms around Hank. "I want to sort it. I can't." She knew that she just wanted it all to go away. Buring herself in Hanks arms was all she could think to do. Erin was exhausted and her body wanted rest but her mind wouldn't shut up. Erin wasn't even trying to fight sleep, usually she slept well through the night. Tonight, she wouldn't be so lucky. If Hank stayed at the hospital, so would she. If they went to a hotel or Sharon's place she'd probably eventually sleep but not well.
Erin just tried to ignore the last pat of what he said about confirming that he'd do the same. No point in bringing an argument over it but it bugged her. Hank was safe, and her mind didn't need to spiral the fifty million different directions that it was trying to go. Fingers just played at the bottom of his hairline. Then her personal cell rang. Looking at the name she sent it to voicemail. She was going to leave it off but if certain people called, they needed to get through. Changing her settings she muted all her calls except from a few people. No one at work had her personal cell number.
She laid her head on Hank's shoulder. This had always been when her ex took off. When things got hard and Erin was trying to sort through things. Erin wasn't actually sure what to do with someone who did stick around. As his hand brushed her face she caught somewhat of a smile in his direction. Her hand went up to grip around his before she laced her fingers with his.

Hank watched her turn her phone off, well it was a start he thought all things considered it was probably better that she didnt hand it across to him or it would likely get broken pretty quickly. His record with technology was hardly spotless and less so with phones that he could have an entire conversation with without actually calling anyone. He decided not to push the issue too much or he knew that there would be both of them digging their heels in over a phone, yeah there were much bigger things to argue about he thought though with her eating that was off his list too.
“You know what you feel soon enough, just dont make rash choices about what that should be right now.” He said as he smiled feeling her wrap her arms around him. “It doesn’t happen in ten minutes Erin, i’ve seen people weeks sometimes months to figure it out. It took me long enough when it first happened to me.” He said knowing it had taken a while for him to let down the ‘i’m fine’ crusade he had been on. Holding her close he wished he could do something to make it better for her, anything that he could do to fix it.
It was easy to tell her he’d do anything for her because he would do, it was strange that it had taken him to see what Thomas had done for Sharon for him to see that maybe being a fed wasn’t too bad a thing. Still he bit his lip and sighed hearing her personal phone ring, honestly what was it with the phones he thought as he wondered if it was work or personal. Either way he wanted her to be alright no disturbed by constant calls. “I can just break it if you want?” He offered smiling a little, “It usually works for me.” He added though often his was left in a coffee pot, sink or just thrown at a wall depending on the day.
Hank would be there for her at any point, he wasn’t the sort to run off only if he had to catch someone for her. He hadn’t had another person to rely on for a long time not like Lou anyway as he smiled when she gripped his hand and laced his fingers with hers. “I’m thinking we stay at hotel tonight? So you can get some rest, no phones or anything to disturb you okay?” He offered not that he was going to completely shut off her phone because he knew that others had to get through to her but the last thing he wanted was for her to be sleeping and be disturbed.

Erin Reagan Voight Erin just cradled her head on Hank's shoulder and left it there. She just listened as he spoke, her head nodding on occasion. It wasn't until he mentioned her phone that she shook her head at him. "It's just dad checking on me. I'll call him back a little later." She needed quiet more than she knew. Erin had no clue everything felt catatonic.
"Whatever you think is best." Erin usually didn't give in so easily but fighting with Hank was a battle she was too exhausted to win right now. "I can't promise I'll get much rest. Have you ever just wanted to stare off into wall? Hope you could win a staring contest with it?" Handing him her personal cell she spoke. "No one from work calls. I don't need family to worry" she pointed out.
This was Erin giving into Hank's terms. "Twice I've had family kill someone standing behind me. It's worse pulling the trigger. The other times it was just relief but I don't know what this Hank." Hearing a voice from behind her she tensed up at it's vocals calling her name. It was a news reporter. That was the last thing she needed.
"Ms. Reagan do you have any comment to make?" Whirling around with her back to Hank she grabbed the microphone and hurled it into the wall.
"I suggest you leave." It was simple. "Or I will make sure you are taken to court for harassment." Hadn't she had enough? Erin's body pressed against Hank's though she stood between the two. Oh this guy was pushing it.

Had it been any other day or time he would have been relaxed and enjoyed her resting her head on his shoulder. That day he was on edge and was still trying to find his way through a thousand and one thoughts that were spinning in his head. “Okay, as long as you’re sure.” He said knowing that Frank would probably want to know his daughter was alright, if it was Sharon or Erin he would have been pacing the floor and wearing out a carpet somewhere.
“Hotel then.” He said knowing at least that way she could be away from the place where everything had happened and it was close enough to the hospital too just in case. He was ready for an argument with her though he was glad she was too exhausted to try to win. “You sound a lot like a cop for a lawyer you know.” He said as he nodded, “A lot more often than I want to admit.” He said as he held her personal phone for a moment and nodded. “You’re right, you keep it with you.” He said not wanting to be the cause of any problems in family getting through to her.
Thinking that twice her family had to kill someone standing behind her was two times too many for him. He wasn’t in the habit of thinking of her like a target that people would want to hurt but then he’d found her himself that day in her office. Hank was about to try to explain his own version of it when he heard the voice, all he could do was try and keep calm and not ram the microphone somewhere it would never be seen again.
Hank felt her body pressed against him as he wrapped his arms around her, to keep her out of any trouble and to stop himself from making anything any worse. “Cant you vultures just let people be for a few hours? She might take you to court but I’ll arrest you faster than you can figure out how to make a phone call.” He stated glaring at the two of them, “Leave or spend the next forty eight hours in jail.” He said as he meant every single word, even if it took him losing paperwork or making up a charge he’d do it.

Erin Reagan Voight Erin's face was paling and despite eating she felt sick to her stomach. "Yeah I don't feel well." Erin managed out. She put her phone in his pocket. "If it's Dad or Danny just answer it. I can't handle people right now" Had it been any other time, she might have been happy to be laying close to him; but right now this was her needing to feel protected. Though if only he could protect her from what was going on in her head.
"You won't hear any arguing from me about it Hank." She ascertained. Though hearing him say that she sounded like a cop she probably would have laughed any other time. Right now she couldn't. "Lawyers don't shoot people" she pointed out. No they threw law books at them and argued tooth and nail to protect and lock away those who broke the law. She looked towards him as he said he stared at a wall blankly too at times. There was no unseeing the body on the ground.
"I just..." she was about to say something when the reporter had started blabbering. Feeling Hank's arm around her she simmered down some but she was not feeling well. Part of her wanted to puke on the guy; but she had more tact. Pulling towards the reporter she felt Hank's arm still holding her back and she settled back against him. Erin was like a loaded bullet right now. She would fight with the law if she had to do so.
When the reporter didn't leave Erin about snapped hearing the man's voice again. "We just want her account of what happened. Ms. Reagan what happened?" Erin really really hated the first amendment sometimes. They could theoretically hound her as much as they wanted to do. Though there was a fine line between that and harrassment. "I am counting to three before I pick up this phone and call my office to get a restraining order" yes that she could get, easily.

Hank could see her pale face and he half expected to be wearing whatever lunch she had eaten so far. He smiled as she put her phone in his pocket. “I will, you just forget about all of it.” He said glad that he had something to do that didnt involve trying to tell everyone it was all okay when it wasn’t. He wished there was more he could do for her but like anyone it had to be the person who dragged themselves back and he knew it wasn’t going to be easy for her at all. There were only so many ‘it’ll be okay’s’ left in the world to say.
“That’s good and bad, a lawyer not arguing... that’s new to me.” He said trying to help her out though if she wasn’t laughing at his cop joke it was a tough crowd. “Not usually no, but then people do shoot people to protect other people.” He said though there was no denying what she had done he wished that it hadn’t been her to do it. The one person that hadn’t killed anyone and Erin had to be the one to take that on herself.
Hank tried to smile but then there was the reporter who was talking and his head was just about ready to explode. Holding Erin back when she started pulling towards the reporter was easy, if anyone was going to get into trouble it couldnt be the DA. No he knew that much already glad when she settled back against him. Honestly if this guy didnt just shut up Erin wouldnt be the only one who was shooting people that day and Hank wasn’t the type to miss his target at all.
He tried to block out the reporters words though the guy just wouldnt quit. Hank rolled his eyes at the guy when Erin threatened a restraining order. He pulled the gun from his side and looked at the piece of metal in his hand before he glanced at the reporter. “Or you get two seconds to leave before I shoot you and just give you the front page story.” He stated glaring at the man though he wasn’t exactly pointing the gun at the man the threat was more implied though it wasn’t beyond Hank to do that either. “Just leave her alone for once.” He said keeping his arm around her.

Erin Reagan Voight
Erin had been trying to forget about it when the reporter showed up. She'd been trying to form some smart alec response to his lawyer comment. She understood what he was saying about people shooting to protect others. Danny had done it, her father had done it. She was fairly certain that Hank had done it, and every other cop she knew. But how many lawyers shot someone?
There were many things that Erin had, and one of them was enough guts to put her hand over Hank's loaded weapon. Her eyes said everything as her other hand came to his back. It was close enough to his threat and she didn't need to jump the fence again. She'd done it once to defend Hank in a murder investigation. She knew the body had been moved and then charges had disappeared after that. Erin also knew Hank had been guilty so she didn't have a doubt in her mind that he would try something so stupid again. "Now is not the time Hank." She warned lightly.
"Take me home?" She knew that Sharon might be alright now that she was with Thomas, but she also knew how overprotective Hank was and if he wanted to come back up here, then who was she to stop him? Erin lightly ran her thumb over the small of his back. Her other hand still hadn't moved from over top his weapon. Her attention trained on the reporter who had scampered off. Erin's body language suggested she was afraid of the weapon in his hand. Despite covering it she was almost frozen in place. She wasn't even sure she could pick it up right now. "You should put that away." Now guns were mortal enemies? What was wrong with her?
